The launch do went exceptionally well last night. I feared that few people would attend but we had a full room. The cheese and wine went down well and compliments were received regarding my dips (Cream Cheese and Spring Onion; Curry; Cheese and Mustard; Blue Cheese and Mushroom) – a second career there, maybe.
We kept things brief, a few words from the project leader and then we ran a PowerPoint presentation and the audio CD in the background. Everybody seemed to have a good time and there was plenty of socialising going on. What surprised me was that people bought the book and then sat down to read it on the spot.
Sales were brisk.
I received compliments on my work. One young lady, from off-island, asked me if this was what I “did†and I said no. She seemed taken aback and said that she knew people who did DTP and layout for a living, who couldn’t do as well as this. So, that was nice. I said I was open to contracts!
Quite a fun evening, apart from having my photograph taken.
Copies are going to Sanday and Orkney Mainland stockists in the next few days. I need to get copies out to the British Library asap, must not forget to do that! It’s nice to be able to say “Ah’m lodged at the British Library, doncha know.†ROFL.
All we have to do now is to get the book online for sale.
And maybe plan volume 2…
