I had plans for today. They involved a lovely garlicky Focaccia and a pan of Creamy Mushroom and Tarragon Soup for this evening’s meal. Alas, I cannot get anywhere near my kitchen, where Mr L is trying to repair a faulty dishwasher.
My planned day having taken a bit of a knock, I now find myself doing very little of any purpose; simply mooching here and there and doing this and that, though very little of it.
On the Good News side I have managed to persuade all my cameraphone photos into Lightroom and am now poised to begin work on writing up some of our recent travels. If only I had a tidy desk space in which to work. My PC remains non-functioning and so I have my laptop perched on the edge of my desk as best it will fit.
On the subject of travels, if you recall, Mr L spent some time in repairing the bumper trim on Vincent Van Go after we came home from D&G. There had been a slight contretemps with a large boulder edging our pitch… It was a good repair and he was proud of it. Unfortunately whilst we were in Shetland, the damn thing took another beating when we engaged with a steeply inclined parking space and rolled into the kerb. The repair work was undone and further damage accrued. Another attempt to repair it suggested that it was wasted effort. However, the bumper cover (it’s proper name is now discovered!) is simply that – a (supposedly decorative but actually plug ugly) cover for a proper chrome bumper that lurks beneath. The cost of replacing the bumper cover is thought prohibitive by USAnians, so factor in carriage to the UK and whatever import charges and… yes, can’t be done. Thus Mr L spent yesterday removing the ugly great thing and revealing the shiny splendour beneath. Well, it will be shiny with a little more TLC and some Jenolite, I am sure.
Me, I spent most of that day in experimenting with the Remoska. I tested the cooking of a whole chicken, which actually went quite well (and quickly) so all of Mr L’s hard work was rewarded with a large plate of meat and several veg. Details forthcoming in the appropriate place.
It looks as though tonight’s meal will be a fry up of the leftover veg with cold chicken and not the lovely mal that I had hoped for..
